The Murrindindi Health Network is proud to introduce the Kickstart Program, an entry-level training and work experience initiative designed to help local people step into meaningful careers in aged care, disability support, and community health. Delivered in partnership with The Centre and supported by the Workforce Training Innovation Fund, Kickstart gives participants the chance to build practical skills while gaining real-world experience in local facilities across the Murrindindi Shire.
Hands-On Training, Close to Home
Kickstart combines six face-to-face sessions with three workplace shadow shifts, giving participants the opportunity to learn in real environments such as aged care homes, disability support services, health centres, and community kitchens. The program also includes nationally recognised training across three accredited units:
- CHCDIV001 – Work with Diverse People
- CHCCOM005 – Communicate and Work in Health or Community Services
- SITXFSA005 – Use Hygienic Practices for Food Safety
All Police and NDIS Checks are covered as part of the program, saving participants the cost of mandatory entry requirements while fast-tracking their readiness for the workforce.
What You’ll Learn
Kickstart is about much more than classroom learning. Participants will develop:
- The ability to read and follow care plans
- Confidence in writing case notes and incident reports
- Strong communication skills for working with clients, families, and teams
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene in care environments
- A clear understanding of what it means to work in aged care, disability, or community health
This blend of training and workplace experience helps prepare participants for the realities of care roles while building confidence in professional settings.
Who Should Apply?
Kickstart is suited to a wide range of people, including:
- School leavers exploring their next steps
- Job seekers looking for practical skills and experience
- Career changers wanting meaningful work with strong future demand
- Anyone with a passion for helping others in their community
Pathways After Completion
Graduates of Kickstart will be well placed to apply for entry-level jobs in aged care, disability, or home care. The program also provides a stepping stone into further study, such as a Certificate III in Individual Support, opening the door to long-term career pathways in health and community services.
